Are we continuously between? Talking without conviction, walking in circles?
In an exploration of identity, one question is answered with the presentation of yet another question and the knowledge that you are floating between fact and fiction.What has come before and what has not yet become official is constantly scratching at the inside of your eyeballs.
The man’s face is followed by a rusted box hanging from the upper corner of the room.
As the porridge in his stomach begins to turn, the man wearing the blue overalls brings in the cage filled with brown rats, slowly powders his hands, then pulls the latex gloves onto his fingers.
ROOM 101. A place where identity is formed and the line-drifters are crushed by a metal sledge-hammer.
The man with the blue overalls puts his hands to Winston’s Skull, pulling skin and almost ripping his upper lip.
“You have drifted far my dear friend”
“I am so sorry. It won’t happen again”, Winston sobbed as the man pulled the first rat out of the cage.
“LOOK OUT HONEY, CAUSE I’M USING TECHNOLOGY
AINT GOT TIME TO MAKE NO APOLOGY”

I just received notice that one of the portraits from my recent series ’ Facial Recognition ’ Will be in this years Ulrick Prize up at the Art Centre on the Gold Coast. The exhibition is held every year and showcases photographic artists from all over Australia. Other artists chosen for the exhibition include my good friends Adri Wens and Sarah Cunningham as well as my recent photography lecturers Izabela Pluta and Vanila Netto from The College of Fine Arts.
I’m looking forward to the opening night which is on the 31st of March and runs till the 13th of May. If you are around the Gold Coast round then check it out!
